Four Acre Trust continue to support our young carers

Margaret Barrett and Janet Forshaw The Four Acre Trust has once again agreed to support our Young Carers with a grant of £2,436. Thanks to the efforts of Janet Forshaw who runs the Young Carers and Margaret Barrett, our MS Centre Manager, our grant application was successful. We are extremely grateful to the Four Acre Trust. Our chairman, Bernard Curtis said:This is wonderful news, particularly for Janet who works so hard to give our Young Carers a varied and interesting programme of events every month of the year. It is a sad fact that Young Carers do not get the recognition they deserve and we have been more than fortunate that the Four Acre Trust has supported our Young Carers since 2005. Margaret and I would like to say a special 'thank you' to Janet for her dedication; we know that the Four Acre Trust were impressed with the way in which the group is run.The Four Acre Trust

Volunteer Profile...Dec/Jan

Each month we ask one of our volunteers to introduce themselves to you.
We hope it will inspire you to join us.

Sue Austin

Sue Austin Sue joined the branch as a volunteer just over four years ago and very quickly became a very active member. The continued growth of the branch saw an increasing number of newly-diagnosed folk approaching us for help and advice and Sue was asked to be our very first Newly-Diagnosed Outreach Worker.
With her own experience of MS to guide her she became the first point of contact for newly-diagnosed folk and within a short time Sue brought many of them together, forming a new group that became known as 'Meet to Share'. The group now meets regularly for social events under Sue's leadership and those not wishing to join a group remain in contact with Sue on a one-to-one basis.
Sue is also an active committee member assisting with the weekly Luncheon Club, manning our MS Centre in St Leonards Road on a regular basis and represents the branch on various focus groups with the Chairman and the Centre Manager.
